Just before the weekend of 7-8 July Lords Hill MFC members Barry Cole and myself (Chris Williams), along with scale soaring fan Dave Stokes set off for eastern France for the big Rétroplane meeting up in the High Vosges near the Swiss border.

This is a slope meeting for vintage scale sailplanes, with an entry this year of around seventy fliers, and a total amounting to nearly one hundred vintage scale gliders. As has become usual this year, the weather did it's best to ruin the whole
occasion, but miraculously, the Saturday was dry with a good breeze blowing directly on the hill, sorry, that should read mountain! There was a very impressive array of models present, ranging from a Lillienthal replica up to the cut-off date of 1960, with examples such as my own Skylark 4.
